School lunches – we’ve got you covered

Children In A Circle Enjoying Healthy Lunches

Not looking forward to making roughly 195 school lunches – give or take – this year?

Whether you have fussy eaters or ones that eat everything under the sun, it is important to ensure your children get a healthy balanced diet to help support their growing bodies and strong bones.

We’ve taken the hard work out of lunch box ideas, with some delicious ideas that are both creative and healthy and are sure to impress your kids!

Remember, 2 and 5 helps you thrive!

Hummus snack packs –

Chop up any leftover cucumber, carrot and celery. You can be as creative as you want with this. It’s totally up to you. If your little one prefers capsicum or even snow peas, then chop away. This is a sneaky way to tick off your recommended servings of fruit and veggies for the day. Pop in a re-usable container full of hummus and they are good to go!

Fruit skewers –

Not only are skewers fun to make with your little ones, but they can also be prepped ahead of time and they last for a few days. Grab some of your child’s favourite, or not-so-favourite fruit options and pop them onto a skewer. A rainbow of fruits will catch for your child’s eye. Think – bananas, grapes, blueberries or strawberries. Head to your local fruit or supermarket to see what fruit is in season.

Pasta salad –

A delicious pasta salad can also be made ahead of time. It will last you a few days, which will help avoid school morning chaos. Boil water and add your preferred pasta. While that’s heating, chop up anything from tomatoes, red onion and cucumber to olives (if they like them) and capsicum. Check what is in your fridge and go wild! Throw your chopped ingredients in a bowl with some extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper, and your cooked pasta. If you’re feeling fancy, or have fetta in your fridge, sprinkle over the combined ingredients before adding to containers.
