Life Ed Qld has empowered more than 1.5 million young Queenslanders since 1988 with the skills and knowledge they need for a safer and healthier future.

The delivery of our health and wellbeing programs to children across the state are funded through donations from our generous supporters.

Help us continue delivering our work to Queensland children by supporting our charity through workplace giving,
corporate partnerships, or gifts in Wills.

Workplace Giving

By joining our Workplace Giving program, your regular donation, deducted automatically from your pre-tax pay, will help to teach children in your local community the skills they need to live safer and healthier lives.

How to give

Your organisation may choose to remit your donation directly to Life Ed Qld or they may be registered with an external workplace giving provider. We are registered to receive funds via the Good2Give platform. More information about how to set up workplace giving at your organisation or for yourself can be found below.

Information for employees

Workplace Giving is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support Life Ed Qld. It is easy to set-up and as your donation is deducted from your pre-tax pay, you are able to give more for less!

If your employer already has a Workplace Giving program, simply complete the authority form nominating Life Ed Qld as your chosen charity. Alternatively, if your workplace uses the Good2Give Workplace Giving platform, simply request your login details to set up your donation online. If your employer doesn’t have one set up, simply download our Workplace Giving flyer. This has all the information on how to set up workplace giving at your organisation. Simply give it to your payroll officer to complete.

Don’t forget to ask your employer if they will match your donation amount each month. Double the donation is twice as nice!

Gifts in Wills

Leaving a gift in your Will is the only way to ensure your estate goes to the people and causes that you care about and have supported throughout your life. As a Will is a legal document, we do recommend that you consult a solicitor to help you draft it, so that you can be sure your wishes will be carried out as you intend.

There are four ways to leave a gift in your Will to Life Ed Qld:

  • Pecuniary Bequest – a gift of a fixed amount of money;
  • Specific Bequest – an asset (something other than money), which may included property, shares or artwork;
  • Percentage Bequest – a specified percentage of your total estate; or
  • Residual Bequest – the remainder of your estate after all debts, charges and gifts have been distributed. A residual Bequest maintains its relative value and automatically adjusts with the value of your estate.

Wording your gift

Once you have decided to leave a Gift in your Will to Life Ed Qld, we suggest your solicitor uses words such as those below if you do not already have a Will.

 “I give to Life Ed Qld (ABN 17 760 280 660), for its general purposes, free of all duties (____% of my estate) OR (the sum of $ _______) OR (a specific asset) for which an authorised receipt from Life Ed Qld will be sufficient discharge for the executor(s) or trustee.”

What to do if you already have an up-to-date Will?

If your Will was written within the last 5 years, simply ask your solicitor to add a codicil. A codicil is a document made subsequent to the signing of your Will, with the intention to alter one or some provisions contained in your Will.

Adding a codicil is quite simple. Download our suggested wording and pass it on to your solicitor. This wording is only a suggestion, and we would recommend consulting with your solicitor to assist you in drafting the codicil to ensure your Bequest is valid.

Keeping your Will up-to-date

 Major life events – marriage, divorce, a new baby, the death of a family member or other significant family event – are a good time to update your Will.

Over the years, our situation changes dramatically through births, deaths, marriages, divorce and the acquisition or disposal of property and other assets. A will requires regular periodic examination. Your Will should be reviewed every 5 years, or whenever there is a significant change in your circumstances.

Types of gifts to consider

Unrestricted Bequest

Bequests made without specific instructions for use, will be directed to the most areas most in need within our organisation. An unrestricted Bequest is the most flexible way to benefit the future of Queensland.

Dedicated Bequest to build – Healthier Futures Fund

Your Bequest can protect the long term future of Life Ed Qld by building a capital base to meet new and emerging needs.

Dedicated Bequest – Program Development

Your Bequest will support the development of future programs to educate young Queenslanders about the new and emerging threats they face.

Dedicated Bequest – Mobile Learning Centres

Your Bequest will assist Life Ed Qld to purchase and maintain additional vans so that we may reach every Queensland child with our vital health and safety messages.

Keeping your Will safe.

Your up-to-date Will should be kept in a secure location, either at home or deposited in the bank. You may also leave your Will with your solicitor. Whichever option you choose, it is important that the Executors of your Will are informed of the storage arrangements. You may also choose to send a copy to us so that we may keep it in our confidential files.

For more information or to advise you have made a bequest, please contact our Bequests Team on (07) 5572 0166 or email us via supporters@lifeedqld.org.au.
