Your impact in the remote First Nations community of Woorabinda

Every year, thanks to generous donors like you, nearly 200 children from Kindergarten to Year 6 are empowered with vital health and wellbeing education through the Healthy Harold program.

Your commitment ensures these young First Nations learners are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make safe, healthy, and respectful choices — shaping their futures and strengthening their community.

For over three decades, supporters like you have been part of this journey, enabling Life Education to return to Woorabinda State School, located on the traditional lands of the Wadja and Gungaloo peoples. Together, we share a vision with the school, that celebrates kindness, strength, and respect — values that align deeply with the heart of what your support makes possible: empowering young people in Woorabinda to build healthier, brighter futures.

This year’s visit brought a truly enriching experience. A highlight was the presence of local Elder Milton, who joined a session in the Life Ed mobile learning centre. With his guidance, the children experienced an inspiring exchange of knowledge, language, and culture — a moment that deepened their connection to their heritage, their community and themselves.

Your support also enables collaboration with local health leaders, like the Director of Nursing at Woorabinda Hospital, ensuring the programs respond to the community’s unique needs. These partnerships amplify the impact of your contributions, creating a holistic, community-centred approach to health and wellbeing education.

Thanks to you, Woorabinda’s young people are gaining more than just education; they’re building brighter futures. Your dedication is empowering this proud First Nations community to thrive, one lesson at a time.

Together, we’re creating a ripple effect of hope, resilience, and opportunity. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey.

We’re proud to announce that the Stand Up for Respect program, created to prevent bullying and foster respect in schools, has been named a finalist for the prestigious national Social Impact Measurement Network Australia (SIMNA) Awards for Excellence! This recognition is a testament to the life-changing impact your support enables, helping children feel safer, valued, and empowered in their communities.

This nomination reflects the culmination of a huge team effort to co-design, develop, and implement a groundbreaking program, in partnership with Social Marketing @ Griffith University, that directly addresses one of the most pressing issues affecting children’s health and wellbeing. Together, we’re empowering schools and communities to take a stand against bullying, creating a ripple effect that will positively influence children’s lives now and into their futures.

The Stand Up for Respect program was developed as part of our Strategic Plan, with a clear goal to deliver a whole-of-school initiative driving social impact and sustainable funding. Thanks to your support, we’ve not only launched and piloted the program with speed and precision but also gathered strong evidence of its effectiveness in reducing bullying. These results, are positioning us for future funding opportunities and greater community impact.

We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award alongside such notable organisations including ANZ, Community Hubs Australia, and The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation.

Your contributions have made it possible to bring this program to life, transforming lives and ensuring children feel safe and respected in their schools and communities and the award nomination is a testament to the work we have achieved together.

Thank you for being a vital part of this journey. This milestone reflects not just the innovation and passion behind the Stand Up for Respect program, but also the enduring commitment of supporters like you who believe in building brighter futures for every child.
