Kids don’t share everything with their parents, so it is reassuring to know that there is a positive influence outside the home, like Life Ed Queensland where kids can learn important life skills. This would have to be the motivation behind our support of Life Education Queensland.

Knowing that there is a bunch of energetic and keen educators right here in Queensland that are aware of the needs of children in 2023 and beyond, and that these people have a bunch of programs to help children navigate their lives, that is worth supporting!

We had five children between 1987 and 1993, and for the most part, they went to Queensland schools. Although Natalie and I knew the values that we wanted our children to live as they grew up, we did have busy lives and we didn’t always find it easy to articulate it well with them; and they didn’t necessarily want to hear it from us anyway! We know firsthand some of the pressures that are on kids at schools, and we know more now about what our kids went through than what they told us at the time.

What would I say to other people who might consider becoming part of the Kids Protect Team? I would say that supporting kids is the best investment that you can make, better than the ASX. It’s like the old saying: ‘give a child a fish and you feed them for a day; teach them how to catch fish and you feed them for life’, well, it went something like that. I have confidence that the benefit of supporting Kids Protect will produce a lifelong effect for many kids.

A saying also goes that it takes a community to raise a child. Well, I feel that supporting kids to become responsible and healthy adults should be a commitment that the broader community takes on regardless of how rewarded it makes us feel.

A big thank you, Life Ed Qld for showing children that in life there is order and beauty and hope. We are very honoured to be your supporters.
