Mt Isa family wins Term 2 comp prize

Mt Isa Family Tim And Karlie, Elise, Cora And Callan

A lucky Mt Isa family has won the Harold’s Family Comp prize for Term 2, after their name was drawn from 2000 entries.

Parents Karlie and Tim and their children Callan (9), Elise (6), and Cora (4) were delighted to receive the phone call telling them they’d won a $1000 JB Hi-fi voucher.

Karlie says the family plans to buy a new computer tablet or laptop for son Callan to help him with his schoolwork. Karlie entered the draw after providing feedback about the Life Ed program in our regular parent survey.

The Mt Isa mum, 40, recalls Life Education from her own primary school days at Marymount College on the Gold Coast.

Program Impact

Karlie says her three children loved participating in the program at Healy State School last term.

“Cora was excited to see Healthy Harold and enjoyed the overall presentation. Elise was talking about caring for others, the importance of nice manners, how she can be a good person and being kind to friends, and Callan learned a lot about personal safety,” she said.

“It’s great that the Life Ed sessions helped them make the connection between what we want to teach them as parents and what they need to know. Having those ideas presented in a different environment, and one that’s fun, really helps them to grasp the important messages.”

Knowing that the Life Ed program covers contemporary content such as respectful relationships, cybersafety and emotional wellbeing also helps busy parents cover all bases.

“As a parent, I often think, ‘Do I give them enough information about the world?’ Unfortunately, depending on circumstances, not every family is going to have the capacity to impart the right information. You can only share the knowledge you have, so it’s important that all children can benefit from the specialist education provided by Life Education.”

Congratulations Karlie, Tim and children and thanks for taking part in our Harold’s Family Comp.

We’ll announce another winner at the end of Term 3.
