What is an Upstander?
Someone who recognises when something is wrong and does something to make it right.
Bullying can have lasting negative impacts, but it can be reduced and prevented. Life Ed Qld is calling on the Qld community to exemplify upstander behaviour.
We are thrilled to announce the exceptional individuals who have been recognized for their outstanding commitment to promoting respect, fostering positivity and standing up against bullying.
Our 2024 winners are:
The Queensland Junior Upstander Awards is part of the Life Ed Queensland’s Stand Up for Respect campaign.
The purpose is to encourage primary school aged children to be upstanders against bullying and to call out inappropriate behaviour.

A parent or guardian approval is required on the entry form. Your entry will not be valid without this.
Please upload your story or illustration or video to the website located under the entry form.
Any student enrolled in a Queensland school aged 7-13 years-old (must be 13 or under as of their entry submission date).
The competition opens at 9:00am Tuesday 9th July 2024 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Sunday 4th August 2024.
Winners will be announced 12 August 2024.
There will be four winning entries.
Each winner will be:
The written work can be up to 300 words.
It is to be submitted as a pdf or word document.
Under 2 minutes and not larger than 512mb
Submitted as a PDF, png or jpeg format. Not exceeding 10MB.
You must write a 200 word description of the illustration.
No, a parent or guardian must approve the entry upon submission of the entrant form. Your entry will not be valid without this.
This is a merit-based competition, where winners of the prize(s) are selected based on their demonstrated skills and actions. Chance plays no part in determining the winner.
Only one entry is permitted per Eligible Entrant.
No, it is free to enter.
Late entries will not be accepted. Please ensure your entry is sent across by Sunday 4th August 11:59pm AEST.
We encourage schools, community groups and other organisations to promote the Stand Up to Respect campaign and motivate those in their community aged 7-13 years-old to enter the Queensland Junior Upstander Awards 2024.
