We salute our patron, Dr Anthony Lynham AO
At Life Ed Queensland, our work is strengthened by remarkable people who share our passion for safer, healthier futures for children. Today, we’re especially proud to shine a spotlight on our patron, Dr Anthony Lynham, following his well-deserved recognition in the Australia Day Honours.
Dr Lynham has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for his distinguished service to trauma medicine as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and for his service to the Parliament of Queensland and the wider community. It’s a significant national honour, and one that reflects his lifelong commitment to helping others.
Our connection with Dr Lynham spans many years. As a long-time supporter and patron – alongside co-patron the Hon Rob Borbidge AO – Dr Lynham has been a passionate advocate for Life Ed Queensland’s work, championing health and wellbeing education for children right across the state. His belief in giving young people the knowledge, skills and confidence to make safer, healthier choices has always aligned strongly with our mission.
In 2014, Dr Lynham took his dedication to community safety into the political arena, entering parliament with a clear goal: to reduce the harms caused by domestic violence, alcohol-fuelled violence and bullying. He played a key role in pushing for legislation to tighten alcohol trading hours, a reform that contributed to a significant reduction in trauma presentations.
Alongside his contributions in medicine and public life, Dr Lynham continues to share his expertise as an Associate Professor at the University of Queensland School of Medicine, helping to shape and inspire the next generation of health professionals.
All of us at Life Ed Queensland are incredibly proud to see our patron acknowledged for his positive impact. Congratulations, Dr Lynham, and thank you for your enduring support of our work with children and communities. We are honoured to have your expertise and deeply grateful for your ongoing advocacy.
