Life Education Queensland continues to receive invaluable support from all sides of politics with three new Queensland members of parliament viewing our education programs first hand and being welcomed as official ambassadors.
At Darra State School, Jess Pugh MP for Mount Ommaney recently visited the Life Education mobile learning van where Year 5 and 6 students sat down for a session with expert educator Emily to learn about making safer decisions around alcohol and other legal drugs.
The enthusiastic Darra primary children loved being part of the fun photo shoot as Ms Pugh was presented with a special appreciation plaque to acknowledge her support of our program in the Mount Ommaney electorate.
On the Sunshine Coast, Shadow Minister for Education and Member for Kawana, Jarrod Bleijie was welcomed as an official ambassador by Life Education Queensland CEO Michael Fawsitt at a visit to Kawana Waters State College.
With Life Education reaching 26,091 children and young people in the Sunshine Coast/Cooloola region in 2018, Mr Bleijie was keen to see our program in action, dropping in on a bCyberwise module delivered by educator Jennifer, that teaches children about cyberbullying and how to stay safe online.
Meantime on the Gold Coast, Shadow Science Minister and Broadwater MP David Crisafulli was welcomed an an official Life Education ambassador during a visit to St Francis Xavier Primary School at Runaway Bay. During a session facilicated by educator Janet, Mr Crisafulli experienced Life Education’s new TAM-e interactive teaching platform which uses smart 3D technology to teach children about the workings of the body including the effects of drugs, tobacco and alcohol. He also enjoyed talking to students about how they stay safe and responsible when using online technology, particularly social media.
Life Education Queensland CEO Michael Fawsitt said the ongoing support of MPs from all sides of politics was vital in enabling Life Education to continue its work with Queensland children across the state.
“Without the support of successive state governments, as well as our donors and community partners, the services we deliver across this vast state of ours just would not be possible. We are always grateful when MPs can take time out of their busy schedules to personally view the work Life Education does; and pledge their support to our programs which give children the skills to make safer and healthier choices for life,” Mr Fawsitt said.
