There’s no doubt that Halloween is a time of year for families to enjoy quality time together dressing up in costumes, decorating the front yard and of course, trick-or-treating.
But can the traditions of eating lots of sweets when trick-or-treating be affecting our children’s health?
And is there such a thing as a yummy & healthy Halloween treat?
The answer to both of the above questions is YES.
According to leading neuroscientist Professor Selena Bartlett, diabetes is now one of the leading causes of ill health in children, outside of mental health struggles.
In our latest Life Education podcast for parents, Professor Bartlett explores why sugar is an addictive substance, and how it changes the physical and chemical structure of the brain. She also reveals how it’s possible to retrain our mindset through a few simple actions and habits.
By making a conscious effort to reduce or remove as much processed sugar as possible from your children’s diet, even during events such as Halloween, you can make a positive impact on their habits and health.
