Developing healthy, respectful relationships

With 1 in 4 Australian school children experiencing bullying every few weeks and domestic violence in Queensland on the rise – it’s more important now than ever to educate students to empower them to make safe choices.

In 2019, we surveyed 149 teachers across 73 Queensland primary schools to provide feedback on education needs in their schools:

The Life Education Queensland programs cover a range of topics on relationships including:

  • Developing healthy friendships
  • Respectful relationships
  • Emotional well-being
  • Strategies to combat cyber-bullying
  • Puberty, personal development, and consent education.

Our Talk About It program discusses many of these topics that help students across Queensland navigate puberty, sexual health and relationships. Although puberty can be a challenging time, when children know what to expect, it empowers their confidence and social and emotional wellbeing. 

We surveyed 219 Queensland teachers in our 2020 Teacher Feedback: ‘Talk About It’ Program survey and not only did 99.9% rate the program as relevant or highly relevant:
